givenchy holiday part 2

Here is the second part of Givenchy’s Holiday colelction ‘Folie de Noirs‘. If you are a fan of black, you will love this a lot. We see a black base with layers of shimmers. Not just any shimmer though, it’s very beautifully done and there are so many shades that you can see. While the eyeshadow palette is without a doubt the center of the collection, we’re also seeing some other pretty pieces here.

A piece that goes with the eyeshadow palette is the Ombre Couture in Noir Sequin. I’ve tried some Ombre Coutures before and this one is one of my favourites. Because of the cream formula, this works excellent as a base. It’s one of the most lightweight cream shadows that I’ve worked with and it looks very real on the skin.

Noir Sequin used as a base

Noir Sequin has a black based, with lots and lots of multi-coloured shimmer. It’s quite pigmented on the skin and it has a slight tendency to go on uneven if you don’t apply it right. The trick to this is dabbing it onto the eyelid and then blend it out. This way it goes on perfectly even. It blends very well for such a dark colour. You can control the opacity . A sheer layer will look more muted. A darker layer will bring out the shimmer more. It’s a great cream shadow for all your darker looks!

We also have a black nail polish. Now this takes me back to my teens! It was the only colour that I wore back then but I remember that not all black nail polishes are equal. They have the tendency to be too sheer or too watery with as result a very uneven ugly finish. Luckily for us Noir Satin is nothing like that at all. It’s meant to be used as a base for Folie Scintillante, a very shimmery topcoat.

Noir Satin is a creamy black without any shimmer. It has a very subtle blue undertone. I say this because some black shades lean more brown, which does make a subtle difference. Noir Satin is perfect in any way. Two coats and you get the most perfect black nails. My favourite thing about Noir Satin is the wear time. It stays on and on on me, which was such a pleasant surprise! If you love black nail polish that is just simple, straight and forward but works like a dream, than you must, I repeat, must get this!

  1. The black one is soooo pretty Teri 🙂 Have yet to try a Givenchy polish!

  2. Um, wow??! That is one nice-lookin’ black polish! I love a good blue-based black — it makes such a huge difference when a black radiates cool tones, rather than ashy greens or murky browns.

    Pretty pretty!
