Now here is a brand you don’t often see on this blog. It’s a real shame though because the brand offers some amazing products which are already of the ultimate classics in most make-up bags. I do promise to feature the brand here more often while I dive into their world full of new undiscovered greatness for me. Today we’re talking about one of the newer products that joined the make-up line: the tint in gelato. It was launched together and promoted with the Shu Uemura x Mika Ninagawa collection. Mika Ninagawa is a Japanese photographer and director. Her style is pretty recognisable featuring bold bright colours and floral features. A collaboration with Shu Uemura resulted in a brightly fun coloured collection which makes you want to buy everything even more!
The tint in gelato is a product that can be used for both lips and cheeks. It’s already pretty popular by bloggers and many of them compared it to the YSL Kiss&Blush. We see a nice variety of shades in this line and they come in four groups. AT stands for, PK stands for pink, CR stands for coral and BG stands for beige. The packaging is quite simple yet sleek. It comes in a lipgloss-like tube and it’s very easy to see which shade it contains since it’s transparant in some places. We always like that, don’t we? The applicator is oval with an opening in the centre. The product is pretty much scentless which is another big plus (not everyone is fond of the mango scent that YSL carries).
CR 01 is a bright medium pink coral. Now I don’t want to toot my own horn but I have a pretty impressive amount of coral lippies and CR 01 is quite different from what I already own. It leans very pink and it’s lighter than the average coral I have. CR 01 is warm-toned but this might look a lot cooler toned on some people. It’s a bright shade, there is no doubt about that and it’s a great companion on a fun summery day. I also love that it’s not close to being too pale but a touch lighter to make it more interesting. The finish is a soft matte with a slight creamy look. Pigmentation is perfect. It’s opaque in just one layer and that’s all you need really.
I absolutely love the tint in gelato. They are one of the very few products that actually work on both my lips and cheeks and with great succces! The matte finish leaves room for more possibilities as you can always add some shimmer. The feel of the tint in gelato is pretty airy, mousse-like and lightweight. On the cheeks you can just dab it on with your finger, it’s very easy to blend into the skin like that. On the lips you really just need a thin layer to achieve a pretty coral pout. It’s also very buildable, you can go either for a full-on bright coral or wear it as a whisper!
I often get asked the question on where to get Shu Uemura here in West-Europe/Belgium. It’s actually pretty rare here ( there are two online shops for the UK and France) and I’m proud to say that my little country Belgium has a store in Antwerp (Huidevettersstraat 38 , 2000 Antwerp) . So if you ever visit Belgium and you want to check out some Shu Uemura, be sure to stop by in Antwerp! The lady who owns the store is incredibly nice, she has been there for over 20 years!
