Today we’re talking about Chanel‘s newest foundation: the Perfection Lumiere Velvet. This is like the sheerer, lighter sister of the Perfection Lumiere foundation. It’s basically the same idea as the Vitalumiere and the Vitalumiere Aqua. The Perfection Lumiere Velvet has launched perfectly in time for the summer, the time when we prefer lighter, airy textures with a skin-like finish.

The Perfection Lumiere Velvet is very similar to the Vitalumiere Aqua when it comes to packaging. The biggest difference is that the Perfection Lumiere Velvet is completely black. This is a water-based foundation and the texture is very liquid. You don’t have to shake the bottle like the Vitalumiere Aqua though. The Perfection Lumiere Velvet is best for those with combination/oily skin. The finish is velvet/matte and it will look too flat on drier skin types. The foundation has an SPF 15.

Swatches Beige 20

I got the foundation in Beige 20 and it’s a very good match on my face. It might look a bit too yellow/neutral on my hand swatch but that’s because it’s quite a different shade than on my face. As you can see the swatch looks too light but once it’s blended out lightly it adapts more to the skin tone. It also turns more matte. I found that the Perfection Lumiere Velvet runs a bit darker than the usual foundations. Normally I’m Beige 30 but this was too dark in this formula. The coverage is light/medium and is very forgiving when trying to match to a skin tone on me.

The formula is quite interesting. It starts as a very runny liquid (like the Vitalumiere Aqua) but once you blend it out on the skin it feels like a soft velvety powder. It’s incredibly lightweight and it feels like nothing on the skin! The finish is not a true matte because it still has a very soft sheen. It does have the tendency to cling to dry patches on the skin, so I really advise this for oily/combo skin types. I found the wear time pretty good, it’s not the longest wearing foundation but it’s not short either. By the time I go to bed I can see some of the oiliness peeking through.

Overall I’m quite impressed with this foundation, it’s so lightweight, the finish is perfect and did I also mention that it photographs really well? The Perfection Lumiere Velvet comes out in 6 shades, contains 30 ml and goes for 42 €.
