So today we’re talking about hair. It’s been quite a while since I talked about any hair product and it’s mostly because I try to keep things simple. Farmaline contacted me a while ago to try anything on their webshop and I knew I wanted to try a new shampoo straight away.

So I was on the look-out for a new shampoo and I wanted it to be sulfate free. Why? Because my scalp has some issues with sulfates, it get’s incredibly itchy. My second reason is my colour-treated hair. If you go for a sulfate-free one you preserve your colour so much better and it doesn’t fade away in that brassy unflattering shade. Finding a sulfate-free shampoo is quite challenging though. It’s basically in every shampoo and you need to try your luck with a pharmacy or brands that aren’t freely for sale in the store here.

After some serious research I found Phyto and their Phytokératine shampoo for weak and damaged hair. Great! It’s exactly what I was looking for! It comes in a 200 ml bottle and goes for 12.15 euro. Something interesting about this shampoo is the bottle, it’s made of aluminium! Maybe I’m just a simple soul but I never came across a shampoo bottle like this. It’s safe to say that it’s pretty sturdy and you can easily use this as a weapon against burglars when you’re enjoying your peaceful shower and you get attacked. Sounds like a solid plan? The reason behind the aluminium bottle is because it can be recycled in a better way than plastic bottles. The brand Phyto is all about environment and the use of plants.

The shampoo contains botanical keratine, hyaluronic acid, ceramides and pomegranate extract. Almost all ingredients are from botanical/natural origin. The shampoo is a bit like a gel and the scent is quite subtle. I can’t really describe it, let’s say it’s a bit powdery and green. You just use it as a regular shampoo. Because of the lack of sulfates this doesn’t lather. It takes a bit to get used to and I personally don’t mind that. I know some people can’t live without that feeling but for me it’s just fine. You just gently massage it all over the hair and rinse it out. My hair loves this stuff, it’s so shiny and full! My scalp isn’t irritated anymore and it feels clean but without that squeaky clean feeling that causes irritation.

It’s a truly great shampoo for my hair, it’s happy and glossy and so gentle on the hair. The only thing I don’t like is the bottle itself. While I really respect the decision for going more green, I just can’t get used to the feeling of the bottle itself. Let me explain: when it’s new and full there is no problem. But when it get’s more empty you can’t squeeze the bottle. It’s a bit of a challenge to get out those last bits. Or maybe it’s just me and liking to squeeze things? But it doesn’t take away that it’s a very good shampoo, I recommend this to anyone looking for a natural/gentle shampoo without sulfates!

Phyto can be found in a lot of pharmacies. Want an easier alternative? Buy it on the online pharmacy Farmaline. You can find an impressive range of pharmacy brands and their prices are good. Besides shampoos you find skincare, medication, supplements and even pet food. They ship for free if your order is above 40 euro. Go take a look!
