This month Femme Boulevard is doing an inspired look and we could pick anything we wanted. Sounds like a pretty easy thing, no? Well, I kinda struggled. I’ve been feeling a bit uninspired lately when it comes to make-up. I think it’s because I’m on full work-mode and there is not much room left for make-up or anything creative. It was only yesterday evening that I suddenly got this random idea: orchids. I love orchids and they are one of my favourite flowers. They come in a wide variety of colours and shapes but they always look elegant and beautiful. I’ve seen this orchid shade one time and it never left my head. I thought it’d be a perfect lip colour but I don’t have anything close to it. So I decided to recreate it with the lipsticks I already own.
So here are some of the products that I used. It was a perfect opportunity to try my Tom Ford Orchid Haze because of obvious reasons. For the lips I used a mix of Guerlain Rouge Automatique Champs-Elysees, Givenchy Croisiere Fuchsia (LE), Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in 504 (not pictured) and Catrice lipliner in Very Berry (dc’ed). I also realised that I don’t really own any purple toned blushes so closest to that was Estee Lauder Pure Color Blush in Exotic Pink.
I will post a review of the Tom Ford quad soon but I’ll tell you this: heaven! This palette is a great mix of purple toned neutrals. It goes great with a bolder lip because it can be used in a soft way. I used the lightest shade on the inner half of the eyes. Then I used the brownest medium shade over the rest of the eyelid. In the crease I used a soft wash of the pink brown. I accentuated the lashline with the dark plum shade. The lightest shade was also used to highlight the inner corners of the eyes.
The lips are a mix of everything. First I applied Croisiere Fuchsia all over. Next I blended it together with Guerlain Champs-Elysees. Then I lined my lips with the lipliner. Blend this together with the other colours. Then reapply the lipliner on the outer corners of your lips to add subtle definition. I wasn’t completely happy with the end-result because it lacked brightness. So I added a little bit of Lip Maestro in the middle of the lips. I wanted a soft satin finish so I also blotted it down with powder.
I think the end-result isn’t too bad! It’s not the exact shade that I had in mind so I need to experiment a little more but I do think the look as a whole is really pretty! It’s actually has a bit of a Spring vibe. I might got inspired by all the Spring releases lately. Looks like someone is ready for Spring!
