chanel fall collection

Chanel is doing everything to tempt us with her gorgeous releases lately and today I’m showing you two pieces of the Superstition collection. Anyone who loves hues of muted greens might want to look at this great combo. My favourite thing to wear these days are combinations of greens with some brown mixed together and a pop of gold. I love being inspired by the seasons and fall is one of my favourite when it comes to the colour schemes. Combine this with a subtle lip and some pretty flushed cheeks and you are ready to go!

Les 4 Ombres is something new to me. I never tried a quad before because in all honesty: I was afraid of the baked versions. They seem to be trickier to work with. Well today I can tell you about my first experience with Mystere. Sure not all palettes are the same when it comes to quality and pigmentation but it’ can be an indication. So what do we get here? We get a very pretty compact with a mirror with two applicators. Inside we see four shades in round pans. The US version is very different because they get an entire different formula and the pans are square. A quad goes for 49.50 euro.

Mystere 43 is a great mix of light and dark shades. I’ll be going over them clockwise starting with the upper left shade. The first shade is a blackened slightly warm green with gorgeous golden shimmer. Out of all the shades this one contains most of the shimmer and it contrasts beautifully against the dark base. It’s pretty pigmented but it tends to be a bit powdery. Be careful with fall-out! The second shade is a light warm golden shade infused with shimmer. It’s very nicely pigmented and the best shade when it comes to texture and colour pay-off. Then we have an interesting deep dark brown. In the pan it looks rather brown but on my skin it looks more like a dirty olive green/brown on the skin. The finish is matte but with tiny micro shimmer in a very subtle way. The colour pay-off is rather sheer when applied with the finger. Using a brush makes a big ¬†difference though. This is another shade that tends to be slightly powdery. The last shade is a medium shimmering taupe. It pulls slighty purple on me. This one was the trickiest of all four because it’s just that sheer. On my skins it looks a lot lighter than I expected.

The Stylo Waterproof Yeux is another first from Chanel (to me). I’m honestly not big on eyepencils because they mostly don’t last on me and I end up with panda-eyes. Something I got frustrated with and eventually gave up on. However I do loved the shade that Chanel came with so much that I could not resist trying it. It’s very simple yet effective. The pencil comes with a twist-up system, something that I really appreciate. They go for 23.50 euro.

Khaki Precieux 104 is a medium to dark warm golden green. It has a nice metallic finish. What I really love about this is the texture. It’s creamy but not too soft and it glides on easily on the skin without pulling or tugging. The pigmentation is just perfect, you get what you see. My favourite way to use this is on the lower lash-line.

My thoughts on both products are quite different. Let’s talk about Mystere. The quad was different from what I expected and by that I mean it’s a lot more subtle than it looks like. This makes it perfectly wearable during the day because even with the shimmers it’s pretty wearable. I also love the fact that you can use it in different way: dry and/or wet. You can clearly see that they become a lot more intense when used wet. The matte shade is a great shade to blend while the taupe/purple shade is great overall. The dark with golden shade is incredible when you use it wet and as an eye-liner. The palest shade is perfect as a highlight and can be use both wet and dry: both are really well pigmented. My little tip here is to not overblend the colours. The end-result might look a bit muddy. Just gently put the colours where you want them and pat a bit, this works better imo. Overall thoughts: great palette for both day and night but you do need to understand the textures.

Khaki Precieux on the other hand is so much more straight-forward. It’s pretty much amazing! The best thing about this is that it stays on the whole day without giving me the panda-eyed look. It also gives a perfect amount of colour and the finish is perfectly fitting for this collection. It adds a bit of extra to the whole look. I really do recommend this to anyone who has trouble with eye pencils staying on properly.
