Now this is a first: Laura Mercier on Bellachique. I know, I know, it’s such a shame and I should hide in a closet somewhere now but hey, my excuse is that it’s not easy to get here! Laura Mercier is definitely a very beautiful brand, it’s simple and it’s all about wearable shades. To me Laura Mercier falls into the same category as Bobbi Brown, it’s safe, a lot of neutrals and somehow it doesn’t really excite me. Same with Burberry but they have their stunning packaging blinding me, lol! I’m going to turn this idea around though because both brands have a very steady collection with great quality products so I am giving them a try!
The first thing that really caught my attention are the Caviar Sticks. They are getting a lot of love on the blogosphere so I wanted to see this for myself. When I arrived at the counter I was overwhelmed by the amount of gorgeous shades and it took me a good while to decide on which colour to pick. Sand Glow is one of the newer shades and it’s definitely a very ‘me’ colour. Caviar Sticks are cream eyeshadows in a stick form. This make them very convenient for on the go and they are so easy to use. You twist up the stick and you apply it like that. On the end of the pen you see the colour so you don’t have to make guesses. A Caviar Stick contains 1.64 g and you don’t really need to use a lot. Laura Mercier offers a wide range of shades and trust me, it will be hard to decide on what colour you want to get because they are all so beautiful!
Sand Glow is described as a taupe with golden shimmer. It’s actually a very tricky colour to describe because it really depends on your skin tone. It looks like a warm golden taupe with a strong bronze tone going on. On my eyes it looks more like a taupe though, it becomes cooler in tone and at the same time it still looks like a bronze. It has a slight metallic finish when you blend it out. Sand Glow is very nicely pigmented in just one pass. You can sheer it out or build it up. Sand Glow has pretty shimmery particles, they don’t travel around and they give your eyes a pretty subtle shimmery look. It’s definitely not over the top!
Using a Caviar Stick is really easy. I love how easy the formula is, it goes on really creamy, you get enough time to play around before it dries down. It goes on very evenly and it didn’t crease on me. This will depend on the oiliness of your eye lids though but if you want to make sure, just set it with powder. Sand Glow is ideal as a base too. It intensifies any colour that you use over it. The shade is complex and interesting enough to use on it’s own and I really love it for that. It’s great for times when you are in a rush, you just swipe it onto your eye lids, blend it out (and this goes really fast) and you are done! The only negative thing about these are that you definitely want more, I know I do!
