I think a majority of us buys their skincare at the store or shops like Ici Paris XL. But you can also find quite a big range of skincare and even haircare in the pharmacy. I do find that they have a different feel and look, it seems to me that they are more straight forward, no-nonsense. You don’t get all the super fancy packaging but you get more simple looking tubes and pots but it doesn’t mean it’s not as good! I actually have a few of my all time favourites from the pharmacy, so it’s definitely worth to take a look. Now for the Belgians out there, did you know you can actually buy pharmacy stuff while sitting in your comfy chair? Yes, it’s possible with Farmaline, a web shop with an impressive big range of brands such as Korres, Bioderma, Nuxe, Caudalie and so on. I got send a box full of samples to try and today I’m sharing my experience with some of them with you.
The Roc Soft Smoothing Scrub is supposed to use on the face and it basically is a face scrub tiny ex foliating beads. Now I usually only use chemical peels, so it has been a while using something like this. It’s a good scrub for people who tend to have oily skin. I would not recommend this for sensitive skin because it could be too harsh. It does get the job done though, my skin feels clean without being squeaky and my pores were surprisingly better too! Next up is the Louis Widmer Sun Face Protection with a chemical sunscreen. This is for sensitive skins and what I love about this product is the scent, it smells like sunscreen when you are on vacation (does this even makes sense?) I don’t know what scent it is, but it’s vacation scent! Another lovely thing is that it doesn’t have a greasy feel and it really gets absorbed by the skin. Lierac Bodyscrub is something that I don’t really love on the other hand. The particles are way too big and kinda harsh but it does have a delicate flower smell. The Lierac make-up remover was a pleasant surprise. You might know that I’m a big fan of the Bioderma Micellaire and nothing beats it. The Lierac remover does a really good job with removing everything and it has a faint scent which I like. It’s like Bioderma, the consistency is like water so you don’t get a greasy feeling but are left with clean skin!
I never heard of Rene Furterer but it’s a French brand. Volumea is for people who lack volume in their hair (that’s me allright). It has a fresh and green smell, light and it’s not overwhelming. The best part is that it doesn’t contain silicones (yay for me) so this is so great for anyone with hair that can’t tolerate it. Nuxe sells one of my all time favourite lip balms so it was nice to get to know some other products. The Nuxellence Jeunesse is like some type of serum to recharge your skin. It seems to carry a lot of natural ingredients, it feels very light on the skin (dry skins might need a moisturiser after this) and the skin seems to drink it up. The next one is from the Men range: a moisturiser for the skin with a mattifying effect. It’s definitely very light and has a gel like consistency. I think this is great for men because I can imagine that they don’t want to feel the product on their skin (my boyfriend hates it), it absorbs immediately and the scent is so great! It’s herbal but in a fresh way. I actually think that I can use it myself too, haha. The Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse sure is not for the people who don’t like glitter. It’s a dry oil loaded with golden shimmer and I think it’s great for when you are on vacation, you had a day on the beach and you’re going into the night. Just oil up your legs for a golden sheen, it’s moisturising as well and after a day in the sun you really need that! It’s not oily at all and the shimmer is really fine, so definitely great for times that you want to play the bronzed babe!
I also got a whole bunch of samples and my favourites were the Darphin Body Care cream (I love it so much that I’m going to buy it). The body cream contains mainly shea butter which is very hydrating for the skin. Now I had my shares of body creams but what I mostly don’t like is the stickiness. So I was pleasantly surprised when I noticed how well this sinks into the skin. It also contains a lot of other ingredients like sweet almond oil, advocado oil and caffeine. The caffeine is there to make the skin more firm on places you need it. If you use it on a regular base you will start to see the results after a while, so I’m quite curious about this one. But besides the firming it really makes your skin feel like velvet and I honestly love it a lot! Another product that I loved is the Filorga sleep&peel. This is basically an AHA with aloé barbadensis leaf juice amongst some other nice ingredients. You just put it on before going to sleep and wake up, cleanse your skin and have baby soft skin!
So what about you, where do you mainly buy your skincare and what are your favourites? It’s Friday so we’re almost there! Any special plans? I’m going to meet my family again and I can’t wait to see them because I really miss them lately :). Hang in there for just a bit longer!
