Guys, brace yourselves, because this is a huge post! When I went to Antwerp yesterday, hunting for some new clothes (which I failed miserably at, I bought make-up though). I unexpectedly (yes, again) ran into the latest LE of Catrice. I have been waiting for this since I laid my eyes on it. I almost bought everything and since it’s so much, I decided to divide it into two posts. Enjoy!
Let’s start with the gorgeous eye shadow palette ‘Toxic Combination’, isn’t it super pretty? The whole collection has these Baroque accents and the palettes are from silver plastic. The palette is quite small and comes with a mirror inside with a plastic divider (I like that because otherwise the mirror gets all messy) and a duo applicator. The palette contains three eye shadows and a cake liner.
On the right starting from above you have a bright chartreuse with golden shimmers. It is kinda tricky to swatch, but it’s very easy to use if you gently pat it on your eyelids. On the right you have a medium toned olive green with golden shimmers. Then beneath the chartreuse you have a medium toned cool brown, more like a taupe with golden shimmers and a slightly frosty finish. Next to it there is a cake eye liner in a dark brown with hints of green. I used it by making my brush wet and dabbing it into the shadow. This results into a creamy consistency and it’s actually very well pigmented. The taupe shade was the smoothest and the most pigmented. The two other colours went on nice as well, but they were a tad chalky. I think Catrice did a brilliant job on these palettes, they are very wearable, but they also have a nice kick of colour! The price of the eye shadow palettes are 4.49euro.
Next up is the gorgeous Velvet Matt Lip colour in Colour Bomb. This was one of the two products I was most exited about. Colour bomb is a bright coral in a mat finish without any glitters. This colour actually reminded me a lot of a mat version of Mac Watch Me Simmer. I compared them and they are very close, but Watch Me Simmer is definitely more glossy and pigmented. Despite the mat finish it’s not a drying lipstick at all. It also goes on very smoothly and it’s very easy to build up colour. Catrice lipsticks are usually vanilla scented, but this one comes without a smell, so it’s perfect for sensitive people! The lipstick also has great staying power, up to 5-6 hours, although I didn’t tested it with a meal. The packaging is so pretty with the Baroque print on it and the little skull in the middle. Yes I’m in love with this lipstick and to be very honest, I actually like it more than Watch Me Simmer *hides*. It is so much more wearable because the colour is more buildable and it feels way better on the lips too. The lipsticks are 3.99 euro.
The collection also has five nail polishes, I bought four of them, the fifth was a golden shade, but I already have a golden shade like that, so I skipped it. The nail polishes come in the same Catrice nail polish bottles but these have the Revoltaire prints on them and the brush is a little bit less wide too. The nail polishes are 2.49 euro.
Innocent Toxin is a bright chartreuse, it seems to be a very popular shade nowadays because you see it everywhere, with very fine dark green shimmer. I really love the shimmer in it, it definitely makes this colour very interesting! Catrice already has a bright chartreuse in their permanent collection, but it’s not entirely the same. It was a little bit tricky to apply this colour because the consistency was a bit streaky, and I needed three layers to even it out. I wasn’t too big on the bright green shade, but this one turned me around because of the pretty shimmers!
Colour Bomb is a bright pink with coral. It’s a tricky colour to describe because sometimes it looks more like a pink and sometimes its more on the coral side. I guess it depends in what light you see it. Colour Bomb has a creamy finish without any shimmers or glitters. This shade was perfect to work with. I needed two layers for a good finish and the consistency was just so nice to work with. The shade is the same as the Colour bomb lipstick, but on my nails and lips it looks different because of my skin tone peeking through. This colour is perfectly right for summer if you ask me and I really love the bright pink coral!
Overall I really like each product so far. I also made a quick look with all the products so you can see some possibilities. I used the chartreuse green on the inner half of my eyes, used the taupe on the outer half and deepend the crease with the olive shade. I lined my eyes with the cake liner, which was really nice to work with btw. On my lips I’m wearing Colour Bomb.
If you are still reading this massive post, yay for that! Stay tuned for part two tomorrow!
